the incident command system. it's not once in a while team that gets assembled. san francisco is extraordinary city with huge students and hosting responsibilities and an international city with a lot of visitors and with mta what is going on each week and do we have overlap with the bluegrass or fleet week or with the giants like we did. how do we marshal the officers and the parking transit? we can do it and it takes heavy lifting and resources and we learned how to make it more sustainable and to get that level up. having the streetcars and the buses ready in a good state of repair so there are not break downs requiring lead time in the events and look at the procurement cycles and get ahead and have a milestone of this cycle buying this many extra vehicles. we are looking at this now and the workshops -- we had one with the community, the one in december are that opportunity to make sure we're on the right track with their experience. a woman today talked about the experience of crowded trains for the games and i found that too and we have the opportunity for more fre

in san francisco. i'm here to address the central subway construction option of north beach * . our last meeting was november 19th, which has been mentioned, when we finally had representatives of the mta present what they plan to do, and nobody in north beach had heard or agreed with any of it. so, i mentioned at that meeting that i have never missed a vote. i've been in this city for 45 years, but i couldn't remember having voted on this project. i was informed correctly that the taxpayers voted for the subway in the late 1990s for a $6 47 million expense, which is now $1.58 billion, with a b. the whole project is too little too late. and the mta has made cost cuts, but prices continue to rise. as required by the federal law, the city of san francisco must pay for all overruns on this project. i ask the mta board what are your latest project costs? and how can we continue this new project when our present and regular equipment are continually breaking down, as was mentioned yesterday when 250,000 people were put out of work because of faulty equipment that had not been kept up. thank y

kids and a family is yes, you ride bikes and it's an integral part. but when you look at san francisco and how the city interacts and the infrastructure these are key areas for both a residential, commercial, and also distribution of thoroughfares through the city so major changes in how it's structured could have a dramatic and material impact on how people get to work and how the city flows. so i think it is important -- as of now, no one really has a thorough understanding of what the impact would be because practically no studies have been done. so before we really make major changes, it is important to go through the steps. and don't put ourselves in a position where we make a -- harmful impact by eliminating some of the major thoroughfares through the city. >> good evening. my name is -- 7:30 pm last night divisadero and oak, bicyclist running a red light, three pedestrians entering the crosswalk, look of shock in their eyes. to avoid hitting anything or anybody, the bicyclist swerved and turned into oncoming traffic. fortunately no one was injured. fortunately nobody was hurt. t

there are very few people, their contention is long-term connected in population centers in san francisco and los angeles, but it will be a long time before that is accomplished. right now we do have the connectivity we need to, the population, and we also have the only corridor, 430 some mile corridor almost entirely unknown by amtrak, the american people and the taxpayers. that is opposed to the rest of amtrak service, 20,000 miles of service, long-distance, inner-city service, on which amtrak runs on private freight rail that is maintained and paid for on a lease basis to the private sector, and we in fact again bones this corridor and we have also highlighted -- i took the chairmanship in october of 2010, the summary of the title is the federal government must stop sitting on its assets. the first part deals with gsa and we have taken on gsa and some of the idle buildings that sat vacant. was a few minutes ago to continue the effort to get empty buildings fill. if you read through this report it also talks about the northeast corridor which is one of the most valuable assets, transportation,

of the things we should do when i grew up in san francisco was we would have a day called using government day, and i would, everybody in the class would get to go down and sort of shadowed a member of the board of supervisors of the mayor or the city attorney are somebody and see what his job was like. and what a good thing that was. i remember that. and one of the reasons, architecture that i was in china, but one of the things i thought was great in architecture is in australia, they have changed now, but they built a parliament. and this parliament, whatever architecture reason, it goes up like this. it's huge, and the building goes down almost to the ground and it's covered with grass, the whole ceiling. so what the children, would come in droves in the buses and they would go to the top and they would go down like that. and i thought what a good idea. the association in their mind will be this democratic government of australia, and it has a place where i can go and roll downhill, so they'll have a positive association and it will make you more interested and they will learn about it. so
